Giacobbe “Jake” LaMotta (July 10, 1922 – September 19, 2017) was an American professional boxer, former World Middleweight Champion, and – believe it or not – stand-up comedian. Nicknamed ‘The Bronx Bull’ and, more famously, ‘The Raging Bull’, LaMotta was a fearsome fighter who was not a particularly gifted puncher. Nonetheless, he dished out vicious beatings in the ring with his stalking, brawling and inside fighting technique. Due to this style, LaMotta often took as much punishment as he dished out. But, LaMotta was able to absorb incredible amounts of punishment during fights and is said to have one of the greatest chins in boxing history.
