Who Was Adam West?

Adam West was an American actor most widely known and loved for starring as Bruce Wayne/Batman in TV’s Batman (1966 to 1968).  The television series brought tremendous fame and star status for the remainder of West’s life, but he was also known for roles on Family Guy, Robinson Crusoe on Mars and other television roles later in life.

Born William West Anderson, Adam West’s father was a wheat farmer and his mother a concert pianist and opera singer, although they divorced while he was a young boy.  West received a degree in English Literature from Whitman College and then enlisted in the United States Army after college.  He began his acting career with a role in an episode of “The Philco-Goodyear Television Playhouse” in 1954.  West received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2012 and was active in his acting career until his death in 2017 from leukemia.
